The
importance of being “earnest”
Social
media marketing is the latest trend for those who want to sell faster and wider.
However they could end up having an opposite effect and missing their goals! In my opinion, the
main problems linked to its inefficiency are a rough web design and the use of
literal and inconclusive translations.
The
internet is flooded with few user friendly websites, where customers often get
lost! If you spend more than two minutes trying to understand how to avoid an
intruding banner ad, trying to fill a form or to find contacts, you’ll end up
leaving that website without buying anything. What a loss for the online
seller!
And as
regards bad translations, you can find an endless list on the internet! Many
websites are published in different languages trying to attract foreign
customers. But they are often low level translation and in many cases they don’t
really make sense! Grammatical, syntactical and cultural mistakes can be
perceived as the reflection of a low quality company standard. Social media
marketing is all about communication, and language plays a fundamental role. So
those who want to trade online should be more “earnest” and use their
money wisely, investing it in specialized and high quality language experts and a more
brilliant graphic design.
This way
they could make a difference and reach their goals.
